Founded January 6, 1886 the Citizens' Hose Company No 1 Inc. is rich in heritage, pride, and has proven time and again it distinction as a premiere fire department. Established by the people of Smyrna in the late 1880's, the Smyrna Fire Co. has proven time and again it's ability to serve the residents of the community. Citizens' Hose Company is a family oriented organization, involving people of all ages! From Jr. Firefighters, Auxiliary catering, Fire Police, and Administrative Membership, there's something for everyone.

Citizens' Hose Co. No.1 is a 100% volunteer fire department covering the town of Smyrna and averaging over 800 calls per year. In addition to covering the town of Smyrna, we provide mutual aid to surrounding towns such as Clayton, Townsend, Cheswold, and Middletown. We provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are seeking volunteer firefighters ages 14 and older to serve our community. In additional to firefighters, we are are also accepting applications for Administrative and Auxiliary members, Fire Police, and the CHC Marching Band.
