The Delaware Volunteer Firefighter’s Association has dedicated itself to meeting the needs of its member firefighters and their respective counties since 1921.

Our mission is to serve, promote, advocate, coordinate, represent, and support the member Companies’ interests in providing community-based Fire, Rescue, Emergency Medical, and other emergency response-related services to the citizens of the State of Delaware.

Firefighter

As a firefighter, you will be responsible for responding to emergency calls and providing fire suppression and rescue services to the residents of Delaware.

 

EMT

As a EMT, you will respond to emergency calls, provide pre-hospital care, and transport patients to medical facilities. You will respond to emergency calls and provide patients with basic life support.

Basic requirements for becoming a firefighter or EMT vary by the local fire company and membership type but generally include the following:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be a resident of Delaware Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Physical ability to perform firefighting duties
  • Availability to respond to emergency calls regularly
  • A probationary period of 1 to 2 years to obtain your required certifications and training
